“Itochu Unit Inks Renewable Deal with Google in Japan”, In Tokyo, Itochu announced on Friday that it has entered a long-term power supply agreement with Google. This partnership aims to support Google in reaching its renewable energy objectives within Japan.
The agreement between Itochu and Google signifies a significant step in Google’s commitment to sustainable energy practices in Japan. Through this partnership, Google will benefit from a stable
and renewable energy source provided by Itochu’s subsidiary, Clean Energy Connect (CEC), starting from 2024. With plans to supply up to 72 megawatts of solar power by 2026, CEC will play a pivotal role
in supporting Google’s operations while contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.
This collaboration not only underscores the growing importance of renewable energy but also

Itochu’s portfolio company, Clean Energy Connect (CEC), is set to commence services for Google in 2024. Under the agreement, CEC will supply up to 72 megawatts of solar power to Google by 2026, as stated
by the Japanese trading house in a release.
Itochu’s investment in CEC in November 2021 was spurred by the increasing demand for
renewable energy, particularly for powering generative artificial intelligence and data center
operations.
