Driving Business Evolution: Insights from Vineet Trakroo, CEO of Evolution Strategy Advisors LLP.

Driving Business Evolution: Vineet Trakroo’s entrepreneurial journey was driven by a desire to create a broader impact beyond the confines of individual companies. With extensive corporate experience, including roles as Chief Marketing Officer for Usha International and Head of Marketing for CavinKare and Pidilite-Fevicol, Trakroo gained valuable insights into business operations and the intricacies of turning around large operations. He realized that he could contribute more significantly by sharing his expertise across multiple organizations, igniting his entrepreneurial spirit and leading to the establishment of Evolution Strategy Advisors LLP.

Journey and Pivotal Moments

Trakroo’s career trajectory has been marked by several pivotal moments that have shaped his growth as a business leader. Starting in B2B electrical engineering product and project sales, he eventually headed sales and marketing for India’s oldest food company, Postman Oils, reviving their brands and expanding operations. As Head of Marketing for Fevicol, he spearheaded a complete relaunch, giving the brand a new image and extensive portfolio that revitalized its future. Later, as Head of Sales and Marketing for Beiersdorf and CavinKare, he significantly increased turnover and growth.

These experiences provided a solid foundation for Trakroo’s entrepreneurial endeavors, honing his skills in creating effective marketing strategies, understanding consumer behavior, and driving sales operations. His ability to reengineer organizations and adapt to the rapidly changing business landscape has been instrumental in achieving sustainable growth. Since founding Evolution Strategy Advisors LLP after his tenure at Usha, Trakroo has spent 11 years providing strategic directions to various brands, evolving the organization from an advisory to a full-service execution partner, including JV and licensing services.

Key Leadership Principles for Success

Trakroo believes that participative leadership is essential for success. A leader must be part of the team, involved in operations, and understand the frontline’s pain points to make informed decisions. Data-savviness is also crucial, as insights hidden in data can determine success or failure. Additionally, the ability to motivate and reward teams, understand changing policy, technology, and economic scenarios, and spot opportunities is vital for future-ready leadership.

Fostering Innovation and Adapting to Change

At Evolution Strategy Advisors LLP, innovation is fostered through the early adoption of technology, such as cloud services and analytics since 2014. By analyzing data that organizations generate but often overlook, they identify insights impacting business. The use of OKR (Objectives and Key Results) techniques, derived from those used by Google and Intel, has helped deliver results for clients over the past five years. Cross-pollinating ideas from different industries, they have improved sales processes by learning from best practices in pharma, industrial, and automotive sectors.

Navigating Challenging Decisions

Choosing the right customers has been a challenging decision for Trakroo, aiming to build focus and value in their offerings. By selecting clients who value their work the most and where they can offer better service, they have had to refuse business to grow in their chosen direction. This strategic decision, though difficult, has enabled them to offer tailored and high-quality services.

Risk Assessment and Management

For Trakroo, strategy is partly about risk mitigation. Their recommendations are designed to create systems where errors or failures can be easily identified. By analyzing data and pinpointing the right causes that create the desired effect, they convert these causes into action points or key performance parameters, keeping potential risks in full view.

Shaping a Positive Corporate Culture

Understanding a client’s corporate culture is critical to the success of any execution. When running business transformation projects, Trakroo delves deep to understand an organization’s competencies and decision-making criteria. Bringing future issues to the forefront often requires cultural change and the ability to stay ahead of the curve. Innovation, for instance, is a cultural aspect that should permeate across functions, not just confined to products.

Embracing Digital Transformation

Advising companies on digital transformation, Evolution Strategy Advisors LLP integrates these processes into overall business transformation. By digitizing sales processes, they gather valuable data to understand customer buying processes and journeys. This data, combined with other business performance metrics, helps monitor and diagnose challenges regularly. Teaching frontline employees to self-analyze performance with data is a key aspect of their approach.

Advice for Entrepreneurs in the Digital Age

Trakroo advises entrepreneurs to seek long-term sustainable advantages while being prepared for technological upgrades. In the age of generative AI, evaluating its impact on solutions offered is crucial.

Legacy and Future Goals

Trakroo’s journey began with the goal of enabling organizations to perform better and compete globally. Aspiring to touch at least 1,000 brands and help them grow exponentially, they are currently working with 60 companies and 105 brands. These high-performance companies will contribute to industry growth and generate wealth for employees and the nation.

In essence, Vineet Trakroo’s insights reflect a profound understanding of the evolving business landscape, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, data-driven decision-making, and fostering a culture of innovation for sustainable success.

“Clean-Up of Oil Spill Resumes at Sentosa and East Coast Park”

“Clean-Up of Oil Spill Resumes at Sentosa and East Coast Park”, The clean-up operations for the oil spill, which has impacted parts of Singapore’s coastal areas including Sentosa and the mainland, resumed on Sunday, June 16. Authorities are actively working to mitigate the environmental impact and restore affected areas.

In response to the oil spill, a contracted company hired by Sentosa Development Corporation has resumed removing oil from Tanjong Beach’s shoreline at first light.

When CNA visited at 11am, the smell of petrochemicals remained noticeable from the entrance to Tanjong Beach, intensifying closer to the sea.

During a visit, CNA observed an oil slick on the seawater, a rocky outcrop near the shore, and on the beach itself at Tanjong Beach. Some patches of sand were beginning to emerge through the oil, highlighting ongoing challenges despite clean-up efforts.

“Oil Spill Hits Singapore Beaches Following Dredger-Bunker Vessel Collision at Pasir Panjang Terminal”

The Netherlands-flagged dredger hit a stationary Singapore-flagged bunker vessel at about 2.20pm, causing some oil from a cargo tank on the vessel to spill into the water.

A cordon was up at the shoreline of Tanjong Beach, but that did not deter some patrons at Tanjong Beach Club.

Families, including young children, swam in the club’s pool and ate al fresco, with some also running on the sandy beach. Containment measures have been stepped up, such as deploying more booms at the canals to protect the mangroves and Sungei Pandan Kechil.

“We have activated some volunteers … To help monitor the situation to provide early alert of any oil slick, as well as with info sharing and to report any affected wildlife,” said Mr Lee, who is also National Development Minister.

“Mbappe Declines Paris Games Post Real Madrid Move”

“Mbappe Declines Paris Games Post Real Madrid Move”, Kylian Mbappe confirmed on Sunday he will not play for France’s Olympic team at the Paris Games as his new club Real Madrid are against the idea.

The statement refers to a 25-year-old player expressing his desire in March to participate in the Olympic Games hosted in his home country. However, FIFA does not include the Olympic soccer tournament on its official calendar, which means clubs are not required to release their players for this event.

This complicates the player’s ability to compete in the Olympics despite his interest and home country hosting the event.

Mbappe was not included in a 25-man preliminary squad for the Olympics earlier this month, though head coach Thierry Henry left the door open.

“My club’s position was very clear, so from that moment on, I think I (knew) I won’t be taking part in the Games,” Mbappe told reporters ahead of Monday’s Group D match against Austria at Euro 2024.

“That’s just the way it is, and I understand that too. I’m joining a new team in September, so it’s not the best way to start an adventure.

The men’s Olympic football competition is scheduled to commence on July 24, which is 10 days after the final of the European Championships. The tournament will span until August 9, providing a window of about two weeks for participating players. This timing clash with the European Championships finals complicates the availability of players whose clubs may not release them due to the scheduling conflict.

“Bangladesh Defeats Nepal for Super Eight Spot”

“Bangladesh Defeats Nepal for Super Eight Spot” :Bangladesh grabbed the final spot in the Super Eight phase of the Twenty20 World Cup with a 21-run victory over Nepal on Sunday.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team joined India, Australia and Afghanistan in Group 1 of the Super Eight following their victory in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Pace bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the standout performer for Bangladesh, taking four for seven as Nepal struggled to 85 all out off 19.2 overs in reply to Bangladesh’s 106 from 19.3 on yet another Caribbean pitch offering plenty of assistance to the bowlers.

“We are not scoring much but we know we can defend low totals if we can pick up early wickets,” he said.

Former champions Sri Lanka, who finished third in the group and did not progress, concluded their campaign with an 83-run victory against the Netherlands in St Lucia.

In this match summary, Sri Lanka scored 201 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, with notable contributions from Kusal Mendis (46 runs), Charith Asalanka (46 runs), and Angelo Matthews (30 not out). The Dutch team, chasing a target of 202 runs, was bowled out for 118 runs in 16.4 overs, indicating Sri Lanka’s dominant performance in the match.

“After bad first two games this win is very healthy for us,” said Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga.

“The wicket was really good, we just wanted to put a 160-170 scores on this wicket.”

“Economists Divided on BOJ Rate Hike Timing: Reuters Poll”

TOKYO : “Economists Divided on BOJ Rate Hike Timing: Reuters Poll”, Economists remain split over the timing of the Bank of Japan’s next interest rate hike, according to a new Reuters poll, after the central bank’s decision to announce a quantitative tightening plan next month.

The BOJ said on Friday it would start trimming its bond purchases and announce a detailed plan on reducing its nearly $5 trillion balance sheet in July. It maintained its short-term policy target at 0 per cent-0.1 per cent.

Of the 29 economists polled by Reuters on Monday, 31 per cent said they expected the BOJ to raise interest rates at its next policy meeting on July 30-31.

Another 41 per cent forecast the next hike would come in October. Slightly more than 20 per cent went with September, while the remainder did not expect a rate hike until 2025, the poll showed.

The results were roughly in line with a regular, monthly Reuters poll taken before the BOJ’s policy meeting last week.

While the BOJ could hike rates in July, the hurdles of doing it simultaneously with bond-buying tapering are “quite high” considering their impact on the market, said Yoshimasa Maruyama, chief market economist at SMBC Nikko Securities in a research note on Monday. He projected the next rate hike would come in October.

“The BOJ wants to focus (on) scaling back bond purchases at the next meeting,” said Stefan Angrick, senior economist at Moody’s Analytics, one of two firms that revised rate-hike forecasts to September from July.

September “makes sense for a rate hike” as key data, including the April-June gross domestic product data that are important for BOJ decision, will be available, he added.
